To dispose of the oobleck, we like to let it dry out overnight. ProcedureĬombine the cornflour with the water and stir until well mixed. By moving slowly, the cornstarch particles have time to move out of the way. Release your pressure or slowly dip your spoon into the mixture and it will act like it’s more like water. It will feel hard and you can even form the oobleck into a ball if you try with your hands. Here’s how to see the difference you can make by applying pressure to your oobleck : Apply quick pressure with a spoon and this will increase the oobleck’s viscosity by forcing the cornstarch particles together. Whereas warm temperatures melt ice and turn it into a liquid. Cold or freezing temperatures turn water into ice. When most liquids are pushed against, like how you poked the Oobleck with your finger or fork, they move out of the way. Sort of like how temperature changes the properties of water. The Oobleck you made in this activity is a non-Newtonian fluid, which means it does not act like most fluids (water, juice, liquid detergent etc) you interact with. Making oobleck is a great science experiment to show how changes in pressure can change the properties of some materials. ![]() At times, it may seem like a solid or a liquid but it acts differently than a normal solid or liquid. ![]() Oobleck isn’t a liquid or a solid, it’s a non-Newtonian fluid. ![]() 6/6/2023 0 Comments The andromeda book![]() ![]() ![]() Some of these novels touched on the science sandbox he wrote in later on but with pulpy, crime-thriller twists.Īll the books are set in the late 1960s and ’70s and were in a way his tribute to Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, and to one of his favorite Alfred Hitchcock films, To Catch a Thief. Perhaps Crichton didn’t want to mix writing prescriptions and prose, but he used the John Lange pseudonym for Odds On (1966), Scratch One (1967), Easy Go (1968), Zero Cool (1969), The Venom Business (1969), Drug of Choice (1970), Grave Descend (1970) and Binary (1972). The eight books comprise unconnected tales of fiction in numerous genres and will be shopped to studios and streamers for potential film/television adaptations.
